People who have suffered with back pain for years have always looked into alternative treatments to find relief. One of these alternative treatments that have been very successful in reducing back pain is practicing yoga. Over time, yoga can increase the strength and flexibility of your back muscles, and can counteract the tightness and weak muscles that can cause many types of back pain. Before practicing yoga, it may be a good idea to consult your doctor beforehand, to see if yoga is appropriate for you and your condition.

Using yoga to relieve back pain is no longer a theory, or an idea without merit, it is a reality. Yoga is now accepted by most back care specialists as an effective treatment, and even sometimes, a remedy for the relief of back pain. Practicing yoga will give you proper lumbar and back support, while at the same time strengthening the muscles in your back. Practicing yoga over time will also help to realign your posture, which can also be a cause of back pain in itself. Not only that, but yoga is also soothing, meditative, and healing to your body.

Many physicians will instruct patients with back problems to engage in some form of physical activity, or exercise to strengthen their back muscles, and to reduce overall pain. However, many exercises can wreak havoc on an already aching back, and too much rigorous exercise can actually exacerbate the condition. Traditional Western exercise tends to be very taxing on the body, especially the back, and although exercise is needed, the wrong kind of exercise can be ruinous for people with back problems. This is one reason why yoga can be so beneficial in treating people that suffer from back pain.

Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years and there is a reason why. Because it works. Yoga has been well known for a long time to increase flexibility, strength, circulation, and help regulate breathing. But it has not been until recently that doctors have made the connection between yoga and treating back pain. Not only does this seem like a natural marriage, but it is also an effective one.

The first thing you want to do after consulting your doctor is contact a few yoga instructors and tell them about your condition. They will be able to effectively guide you to what are the best movements for your condition, and give you a plan so that you will be successful. Yoga can be an excellent way to relieve back pain and keep it from controlling and ruining your life. But it’s critical to find the right instructor that challenges you, but understands your condition, and has experience training others with similar back problems.

Meditation is to weight loss, what diet and exercise are to getting slim. The power to make a decision is “the” most important step — and the first one — in the grueling, even daunting at times, path to getting thin…and healthy. However, “keeping up” with that decision can be even more overwhelming. Consistency equals success. But the mind can overpower our very willingness to act upon that well intended decision.

When you learn about yoga breathing, you understand that the basis for controlling our mind depends on how we train ourselves to direct our very thoughts. Meditation is the foundation for that training.

If you are like me — who struggled with my weight for years — you will fully understand how painful, even demoralizing, being overweight can make you feel. I will speak to you from personal experience. You ponder and wonder how did you let yourself get to that stage. And the more you stress over it, the more you tend to find comfort in more food. I have been there! The good news is that, after years of fighting the “weight battle”, I found what really worked for me. And here is the whole secret…

Meditate — that is it. And learn about yoga breathing to get you there!

Yes, I have gone mad (you are probably thinking, right?) But think about this.

Normally when we think about some weight losing activity, we think about burning calories or sweating off the fat. When you meditate you have to sit very still, without making a move. Although you will not burn many calories during a typical meditation session, meditation may be one of the most important practices you will do in your effort to lose weight.

Here are a few reasons why this is so:

Weight loss is not just a physical activity; all of our actions begin in our minds. If you are trying to lose weight you probably already “know” that you have to exercise more, and change some of your eating habits.

You “know” this to be a fact, yet you are unable to do it. All people, whether fat or slim, have this same dilemma. We “know” many things intellectually, but we are not always able to put our best intentions into action.

Meditation is one of the best methods to take control of your own self. When you learn about yoga breathing, you will understand how during meditation you study how to make your mind stronger. Someone who meditates is exercising the “mental” muscle by directing the mind away from the noise of the world outside toward the calm within.

It is not a question of mind over matter, or having to do anything that you do not want to do. Meditation is an activity that changes you from the inside out. Instead of forcing yourself not to eat the doughnut in between meals, the very desire to eat it will vanish. Instead of fighting with yourself to go out for a walk, exercise will become something that you enjoy doing.

If you get into the practice of meditation, no one will have to twist your arm to make you live a healthy lifestyle, it will become your natural choice. To learn about yoga breathing is to learn how to meditate to finally break through the single most powerful obstacle you have encountered so far: your own mind.

ill ask us to rest for some time by going to some place for peace of mind. He will ask us to be cool always and remain calm. So be cool always to avoid unnecessary tension. So you will never have any chance to doctor if you live a stress free life. What we are is in our hands.

When you go a doctor and tell him that when go to sleep you cannot sleep or you tell him that when you wake you are tensed. All he will give is a tablet that can give you a sleep for some time but you cannot do that so long. It is not good for health as well. This will be accompanied by a few distances of walking and a glass of hot milk. He does it because he does not realize that body and mind cannot remain always tensed and hence we must be calm always.

Body cannot rest when mind is tensed and mind cannot rest when body is strained. This can be relished when you stop straining yourself. Even when a single nerve is strained, your body is strained. One needs to understand that first. If you continue to do so then you will fell the strain of your muscle in neck and so your teeth will. Thus when the body is sound and mind will be or when the mind is relaxed and so will be your body.

When people find no way to express their feeling, no matter they are sad or happy the final solution is crying. After they have cried or when all the emotions are given they feel exhausted. After they have cried they feel so relived and realize that they have cried for no reason.

Everyone in this world has spent energy for unwanted things. Most of us are spendthrifts of our energy resources. We give them out all through the day. Just watch the world around you. Can you be calm for at least ten or fifteen minutes? When you are tensed, you feel like biting your nails and rubbing your neck and your head will pain and your face will show your tension and you feel like biting your lips. Every one will be nervous for some thing. If he is he is a happy person. This can be done when we meet a busy person. Its possible to spend a day without tension and to stay calm. People having hectic work will be stressed both mentally and physically. Thus it the peace that can alone bring the life back on track.

In the animal kingdom there is no such thing as obesity. It is instinctive for them, unlike men, to be in constant motion. This eliminates the necessity of an exercise regiment. In the simplest motion of a yawning cab, muscles contract intensely as the cab stretches its tiny body with an uncalculating plot in such hint of pleasure after a deep slumber. Arousing the muscles to perk up simultaneously, giving every known muscle group to jolt in preparation for its work load ahead. With one swift motion the cab then leaps on its feet and heads to play off in the fields. Never counting how many strides it takes to burn calories any type of being in the animal kingdom, excluding humans, are always moving for the love of it. They regard it as a natural way of living.

Animals know too well not to discriminate one muscle group from another. They know that their gluts are just as important as their biceps or abs in terms of function and development. This ultimately makes their body and metabolism in check for fat storage because there is minimal isolation of muscle groups that are at work. The more muscles working, the faster to burn those ugly bulges with ease achieving a more natural slender and firm body structure.

Comparatively, most western exercises deal with more focused and isolated muscle work-out. This in effect can show bulky and unevenly proportioned figure. Over doing these exercises can lead to stiffness and muscular cramps, which are treated by massages to relax the over worked muscles. “Over work” is indeed the operative word for it, because those work-outs are tedious and hard to maintain. Eventually people who do it tend to stop, failure to follow though with their regiments causes to seize the work-out. It needs extra effort to succeed. Downsides when stopping are stiffness, rheumatism, neuritis and rheumatoid arthritis due to lack of stretching. Synovial fluids are natural lubricants that are released by the body to flash out toxins in the joints. Stretching the muscles trigger these fluids to be released. Not only that, continuous blood circulation and better flow of lymph are also achieved when the body is in deep contraction. What do these mean? It simply signifies that you’ll feel and look younger, about 10 years off your age. Cellular regeneration and lower stress levels, just by breathing properly, does the magic all thanks to deep contraction while you stretch those stiff muscles.

People tend to look for answers in spas for their vanishing youth and form. They pay lots of money to have a little glimpse into their youth once again. Hoping massage tables and electronic contraptions will do the trick. As they allow their body and face to go through different varieties of kneading, beating, shaking and pummeling all in the name of youth. Yet the truth only lies in reaching their toes to stretch each morning or yawning sluggishly coupled by deep contraction of the muscles. These are simple ways that can ensure extensive results and never short-lived.

The basis of an ancient practice is founded on this simple principle. Yoga, since its introduction to the wellness community has made its mark among the world’s most renowned alternatives to achieve a healthy body. This is not an easy way of working-out. In reality, yoga is fully concentrated on the technique of contracting the muscles deeply, which animals have mastered and humans forgot about of doing. It will be better to start the muscles early to make it almost effortless by the time any yoga session begins. The first essential requisite for all yoga enthusiasts to master is proper posture. This can sound easy, yet most people find it to be the hardest to master. Once the body immerses itself to this habit of proper posturing, it will be undemanding from there onwards. As the various postures, or as they call it asana, become more and more difficult, the limbs become stronger and flexibility comes naturally.

lized this, we must also buck up and start following it.

Senses, quarrelled among one day for who is the best, asked Brahma: ‘Tell me who among us is the important of all and most important’ and Brahma said: ‘the body which suffers a lot when a sense is the best’.

The eye went first, and returned after one year it returned, and asked, ‘how can you live without me?’ The reply was this: ‘like blind people, we have seen people and don know whether it is good or bad?and I was unable to see how Mother Nature was, and I feel I am unlucky.’ The eye came back!

The ear went next, and returned after one year, and asked the same question. And the reply was like this: ‘Like deaf ears we have stayed and accepted whatever people said.’ Ear came back to its place!

Then mind came next, and came after a year, and returned, and said ‘we were fools without you and we remained like a dumb person.’ The seed went and came after a year, they replied: ‘we lived like people having no talents.’ Both mind and seed came to their place!

Finally it was the breath. And during departure it destroyed other senses, as a great power of the India might split the pegs to which he is associated. Then all senses called it, ’sir I request you not to leave us because we will be dumb in your absence” so we see that it is the breath that dominates each and every cell of all the species in this world.

Is this coincidence with the truth of science? The first step in improving the function of your mind is trying to utilize–really utilize攖he oxygen. The Yogis discovered its importance and hence followed a correct method of breathing. It is called as prana-yarna in Sanskrit word prana, means breath, and yarna, means cessation. They tested pranayama as much as they could攖his type of process was much more necessary than the work of our body.

Yoga, an exotic form of exercise, is now the new trend in the fitness world. Just like any other form of exercise, it is based on basic philosophies in order to attain a healthy body and mind for its practitioners.

The following details will discuss the five yoga principles and how they may be of help to our exercise.

1. Relaxation – this yoga principle involves proper relaxation that can help release muscle tensions. This works by putting the mind and body in a tranquil state, which is the goal of yoga. This revitalizes the nervous system and lets us achieve inner peace. This makes each day of our life feels so complete and peaceful. The relaxed feeling is carried into all our activities that help us conserve energy in our body.

2. Proper diet – the food we eat greatly affects the way we think. Improper nutrition can sometimes cause mental inefficiency and hinder our capabilities to achieve self-awareness. A healthy diet should be able to nourish both the mind and the body. However, this does not necessarily mean that we have to eat all the healthy foods we come across every day. We should also learn to eat in moderations to prevent any food related ailments. Eat only when you are hungry.

3. Correct breathing – this next yoga principle involves can be achieved though deep, slow and regular breathing. Correct breathing utilizes all part of the lungs to increase oxygen intake. To achieve this we need to regulate the duration and length of inhaling, exhaling and retaining air in our lungs. In yoga practice, each breath is known to contain our life force and that through proper breathing; we can maintain our over-all wellness.

4. Proper exercise – this yoga principle is based upon the idea that our physical body is designed to move and exercise. The correct form of exercise in yoga is achieved through different form of postures and stretches. These exercises tone our muscles, regulate blood flow and enhance the flexibility of our spine. Yoga poses, also known as Asnas, works in partner with correct breathing. Each pose and stretch should be coordinated with a correct form of breathing allowing us to feel one with our body and spirit.

5. Meditation and positive thinking – meditation can relax the mind and the body. It also helps remove negative thoughts from our mind. Thus, purifying us from stress and other worldly thoughts that we might have.

For those who want to begin the yoga practice, just keep in mind these yoga principles so that you will not be mislead from your true goal. That is to attain a healthy mind and body.

We may have been practicing yoga for quite some time now, but to understand it better we have to look further into its origins and roots. An overview on yoga history will help us appreciate the yoga tradition better. Although, some researchers say that yoga dated as early as the first Indian civilizations, there is no proof to this.

Yoga history has traces in some Indian religions. In Hinduism, Shamanism, Jainism and Buddhism yoga means spiritual discipline. The earliest sign of a yoga practice can be seen in Shamanism. Both yoga and shamanism has similar goals that focus on the effort to improve the state of body and mind. Another similarity they both have is that they try to improve the overall health conditions of each member. However, this does not mean that to practice yoga is to enter a new religion. Yoga is for all and is universal. No matter what are your beliefs, you can still practice yoga.

Yoga history has also left some solid clues or hints behind like artifacts and documents depicting yoga postures. After a careful study, researchers have found out that these items dates back in 3000 B.C.

In the oldest existing text, the Rig-veda, has evidences that it utilize some yoga principles. Rig-veda is compilation of hymns that include prayers for divine harmony and greater being. Rig-veda is the sacred scripture of Brahmanism that is the basis of present day Hinduism. It also contains the oldest known yogic teachings.

During the time of Brahmanism, the yoga practice is now widely used by Vedic people or Vedas followers. This is the clear part of the yoga history. Vedas followers rely on to dedicated Vedic Yogis to help them live in divine harmony.

Later on, practice for experiencing greater state of consciousness is improved by the traditions of Upanishads. During the 6th century B.C., a Buddhist prince studied yoga and achieved enlightenment at the age of 35. He is now known as Buddha or the enlightened one. At 5th century B.C., a yoga scripture was created and known as Bhagavad-Gita or the Lord’s song. This scripture is dedicated entirely to yoga and includes some yoga history information that tells us that it has already been an ancient practice, even before the creation of the Bhagavad-Gita.

The creation of the Yoga Sutra marks the classical period of yoga history. It defines and standardizes classical yoga. From this, we can find eight underlying principles of yoga and these are:

- Yama
- Asanas
- Samadhi
- Niyama
- Samadhi
- Dhyana
- Pratyahara
- Pranayama

The writer of Yoga Sutra, Patanjali, focused on meditation setting aside asanas and so are his followers. It was later on that the balance between the body and mind has been rekindled.

During the post classical period of yoga, the 8 principles has been reduced to 5 and continued to be practiced by yoga followers. Up to this day, yoga continues to spread and develop not just in India but also throughout the world.

In Tantra Yoga the physical well being of person who practices it gets boosted. In Tantra yoga a person needs to be totally committed and it is this commitment which forms the basis of the yoga. People who practice this kind of yoga are called tantriks. These people not only worship their own body but will go to any lengths to attain occult powers.

This form of yoga is not in practice among most people in India today though it was widely practiced by some adepts living in certain parts of the country and those living in the high mountains of the Himalayas.

The origins of Tantra yoga still remains a mystery to many people. Researchers believe that it was the Pre-Aryans who were the founders of this system of yoga but still others are of the opinion that the origins of this yoga are attributed to the early men. This yoga is said to have been in existence around the same time as Buddhism. It is because of this that some of the Tantrik symbols and signs have been used by the Buddhists.

It was much later that this yoga actually became a separate group. Tantras are similar to the Vedas and are a collection of poetic verses. Here there is elaborate description of the various methods on proper worship and love of the divine.

Most of the verses are vague and difficult to understand y the layman so most people find it rather spiritual and think they are meant only for those who practice the tanrtik rituals. The people who practice Tantra yoga are known as Sadhaks and they normally lead a life of utter simplicity. For them their very practice is prayer. These people are found meditating in lonely and secluded places far away from the reaches of society. They can be distinguished and recognized only through the robes they wear and the begging bowl that they carry. Sometimes they are also found selling medicinal herbs, shells, and trinkets.

There is another facet to Tantra yoga also where the yogi or sadhak performs a number of difficult austerities using his body. In Tantra Yoga sex and love making are given importance and is widely practiced by those following this system of yoga.

Many who practice this yoga believe that to achieve siddhi or supernatural powers one has to awaken the dormant Kundalini or serpent power. Practice of a certain type of meditation can awaken this serpent power. It is believed that constant and arduous practice of this particular meditation causes the serpent to gradually uncoil and rise very slowly. The uncoiled serpent energy then slowly begins to rise through the spin. Once awakened it is believed that tremendous energy is released which causes the skin to feel hot and sweat begins to flow profusely till the person experiences a stinging feeling. This practice is extremely dangerous as it can also destroy the person totally if this meditation is not performed with caution and under strict supervision. The sadhak experiences sensational pleasure when the energy touches its peak. The person becomes a sage or Sadhu on achieving this state. Tantra also involves the debauched means of acquiring of mystical powers.
Tantra yoga is believed to help a person to be more sexually active as it improves both their general and sexual health. There are different exercises that can be performed at sunrise and bedtime which helps to stimulate the whole body making the person feel energetic.
